Pat Tillman Foundation Receives Grant from Wal-Mart Gilbert, Ariz.

Wal-Mart Donates Through Grant-Matching Program

San Jose, CA (Apr. 7, 2006) – The Pat Tillman Foundation announced today that it received a $1,000 grant from a Wal-Mart store located in Gilbert, Ariz. The grant, part of Wal-Mart"s Grant-Matching Program, will go to support the foundation"s efforts, primarily its Leadership Through Action™ Initiative.

The Leadership Through Action™ Initiative was created to support the foundation"s mission to carry forward Pat"s legacy by inspiring and supporting young people who strive to promote positive changes in themselves and the world around them. The initiative is dedicated to enhancing young people"s leadership skills, helping them use their skills to develop solutions to today"s problems and ultimately funding the most viable projects.

"It"s very encouraging that Wal-Mart has selected to support the foundation through its grant-matching program," said Alex Garwood, executive director of the Pat Tillman Foundation. "Not only will this grant provide funding for the Leadership Through Action™ Tillman Scholars, it will help the foundation carry forward Pat"s legacy."

Also benefiting the foundation"s Leadership Through Action™ Initiative is Pat"s Run. Last year"s inaugural run in Tempe, Ariz. had nearly 6,000 runners at the starting line, raising more than $150,000. This year the foundation is expecting upwards of 10,000 participants at the Tempe run on April 15, and is also expanding the run to include San Jose, Calif., Pat"s hometown, on April 30.
