Tempe, October 9, 2008- The Arizona Fall League announces plans to hold its second annual Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night on Saturday, November 1 at Scottsdale Stadium when the Scottsdale Scorpions host the Surprise Rafters at 7:05 p.m. Gates open a 6 p.m.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Eric Byrnes and other special guests from the Phoenix sports community will participate in the event that will feature a sports memorabilia auction before and during the game. Autographed baseballs will accompany every silent bid award.
Byrnes will be recognized for his fund-raising efforts as a member of Team Tillman-Professional during pre-game ceremonies that will also include the introduction of Tillman Scholars.
“Pat Tillman’s inspirational life is well known across America but remains very personal in our community,” offers Arizona Fall League Executive Director Steve Cobb. “The Arizona Fall League honors his memory with its second annual fund-raiser to benefit the worthy foundation that bears his name. We are proud to make this an annual event and to now have it sanctioned by the foundation.”
Marie Tillman, Chairman of the Board, adds, “The Pat Tillman Foundation is honored to partner with the Arizona Fall League for this second annual event. We are looking forward to having the community come out to the November 1 game and help support the growth of our core initiative, Leadership Through Action™.”
All proceeds from the sports memorabilia auction and one-half of the night’s gate receipts will be donated to the Pat Tillman Foundation.
The Pat Tillman Foundation seeks to carry forward the legacy of the former Arizona State University and Arizona Cardinals football standout and U.S. Army Ranger by inspiring and educating young people who are striving to promote positive change in themselves and the world around them.
